Mentoring

When you first join Babcock, you’ll be assigned a mentor. Your mentor will help you navigate your career and provide one-to-one guidance on everything from professional development to networking. Their experience and knowledge can help you develop skills like communication and decision-making, or identify career goals and develop a plan to achieve them.

Buddy programme

Our buddy programme is a peer-to-peer support system that pairs you with employees who’ve recently completed their graduate programme at Babcock. They can help you navigate your new surroundings and give you guidance and support, and advice to help you get settled in with ease. They can also be a great way to connect with others and build new friendships.

Early careers support

As well as being assigned a buddy and a mentor, you’ll also be assigned a member of the early careers team who will provide you with resources and support during your graduate programme. You’ll have regular catch-ups to discuss your career development at Babcock and provide you with general support and guidance. Here’s what graduate Tahmid had to say about the support he received:

“The early careers team are very helpful when it comes to starting up at Babcock. They offer continuous help and support, as well as continuous development talks, where we can learn more about the company and discover how we can improve as an individual to help us reach our career goals.

Being assigned a mentor has been a great benefit as I feel I have guidance from a professional in the industry who will help me with working towards chartership and make sure that I make the most of my graduate programme.”

Social and community life

We have a wide network of apprentices and graduates who join Babcock each year and there’s always a social event for you to get involved with. Whether it’s sports like football or cricket, or interest-based groups like photography – our social clubs are a great way to make new friends and have some well-deserved down time. Here’s what graduate Natasha says:

“Social events are arranged by the graduate social team to make sure everyone has the opportunity to meet monthly. Social events include anything from go-karting and mini golf to bowling and paintballing.”
