What will you do on the programme?

Step into the future of engineering with our Digital Engineering Graduate Programme – where innovation meets impact. At Babcock, you’ll be at the heart of transforming how complex engineering projects are delivered – combining cutting-edge technology, smart data, and collaborative thinking to shape the future of defence and infrastructure.

You could be developing 3D models, automating design processes, analysing engineering data, or helping integrate digital tools into live projects. Your work may support digital transformation initiatives, contribute to design reviews, and improve how we deliver projects through smarter use of data and technology.

You might help implement Building Information Modelling (BIM) strategies, manage digital assets, or create immersive simulations using Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) to enhance planning and safety. You may also get hands-on with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) systems – creating 2D and 3D content, refining workflows, and supporting accurate data exchange across teams.

Every experience will help you build confidence, grow your technical skills, and make a real impact.

How is the programme structured?

This two-year programme gives you practical experience across a wide range of digital engineering disciplines.

You’ll rotate through placements every four to six months, gaining insight into everything from model management and CAD strategy to laser scanning, data visualisation, and reality capture. You’ll also work with cross-functional teams and gain exposure to areas such as cyber security, systems engineering, and configuration control.

Each rotation is designed to help you build technical and professional skills, with increasing levels of responsibility and autonomy.

By the end of the programme, you’ll have a solid foundation in digital engineering, a broad understanding of how technology supports complex project delivery, and the skills to take your career forward in a fast-evolving industry.

How do we develop and support you?

From day one, you’ll receive structured support, personalised training, and dedicated mentorship to help you excel throughout your programme and beyond.

You’ll join our Graduate Development Programme, featuring expert-led masterclasses on communication, personal branding, resilience, and wellbeing.

To support your journey toward Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, we offer full guidance and cover all associated fees.

Development and support

What’s waiting for you after the programme?

Once you complete the programme, you’ll move into a permanent role within our Engineering Function, where you can continue applying and expanding the skills you’ve developed. You’ll also have the opportunity to build on your progress toward professional registration, a recognised benchmark of engineering competence, which can support your journey into more advanced roles, such as Senior Engineer.

As a global organisation, Babcock provides countless opportunities to enhance your skills and advance your career. To support your growth, we’ve introduced the Babcock Role Framework, which outlines roles, career pathways, and development opportunities. With every job mapped to these frameworks, you’ll have a transparent view of the steps needed to reach Senior Engineer and beyond

What rewards and benefits will you get?

We want you to feel supported, valued and excited about what’s ahead. That’s why we offer a comprehensive package designed to support your development, your wellbeing and your life outside of work too.

What do you need to apply?

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Many of our graduate programmes are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions which mean that your place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency you hold or have held may impact which programmes you are eligible for. For this programme, you must be able to achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) clearance. Further details are available at United Kingdom Security Vetting: clearance levels – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).

Where will you be based?

Places on our Digital Engineering programme for Autumn 2026 are available in Warrington.

As part of the Digital Solutions team there, you’ll provide essential consultancy across Babcock for both Civil and Defence projects. You’ll support the core functions of digital strategy, CAD (Computer-Aided Design), BIM (Building Information Modelling), and digital rehearsal, helping to deliver impactful solutions in highly regulated and sensitive environments.

Agile working is supported, though you’ll be expected to attend on-site multiple times a week.
