About the programme

Getting things to happen how they should, when they should, safely and within budget is both a science and an art. On this two-year graduate programme, you’ll learn exactly how it’s done.

This programme will advance your project management career through four six-month placements. We’ll support you and your development within the Association for Project Management (APM) framework, working towards formal Project Management qualifications.

Over the course of the programme, you’ll work on real projects, complete assignments, and pursue formal qualifications. You’ll also benefit from mentoring by top industry professionals, helping you enhance your project management expertise and develop essential soft skills.

Where you'll be based

Our Project Management programme for Autumn 2025 is part of our Group Graduate Programme, offering placement opportunities across various UK locations including Plymouth, Bristol, Warrington, Newbury, Glasgow and HM Naval Base Clyde. Most Project Management placements, along with the permanent positions that follow the programme, will be concentrated in the South West, primarily in Devonport, Plymouth.

We ask all our graduates to be flexible and willing to move during their programme. However, we will work with you to understand your personal circumstances and balance them with business needs when making placement decisions.

Joining our Group Graduate Programme offers a unique chance to explore different sectors, gain insights into what sets each business apart, and identify commonalities across them. You may find yourself working in key areas such as Corporate Services or our Marine, Land, Aviation, and Nuclear sectors. This broad exposure and diverse experience will provide a solid foundation for an accelerated career path.

Our Locations
The permanent roles available upon completing the Project Management Graduate Programme are primarily located in the South West of England, with a smaller number of roles at other Babcock sites mentioned below.

Over the two-year programme, you will undertake six-month placements across different sectors, with the majority of these opportunities based in the South West. To gain diverse experience, placements may require relocation to various sites. However, the wide range of sectors in the South West allows some candidates to remain in this region throughout the programme.

During the application process, you’ll be asked to specify your preferred work locations from a list that includes HM Naval Base Clyde and Glasgow in Scotland, as well as Plymouth, Cumbria, Warrington, Bristol, and Newbury in England.
