Information Technology at Babcock

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you could be working in a range of roles on a huge variety of different programmes. In the business-facing placements you will work alongside Business Partners and Business Analysts to build relationships with key stakeholders across the business, helping shape and influence demand into the IT organisation, acting as the connector between the business and IT to interpret and understand business strategies and IT requirements. You will interact closely with Architecture, Design, functional and technical teams to translate those requirements into solutions. At the same time, you’ll gain an understanding of the importance of testing within the software development lifecycle.

In addition, our information support and service delivery teams help the most critical parts of our business to make decisions when they count. Working within the Analytics stream, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects, building your core IX/IM capabilities, as well as developing broader skills along the way. Capability areas include mathematical modelling and simulation, advanced statistical analysis, predictive analysis, web development, data visualisation, information-related technology development and strategy development.

You may also join a dynamic team of cyber security experts who work to keep Babcock secure. You will get to learn and contribute in areas such as threat intelligence, investigation, monitoring and analysis through to use of our security reporting platform. In this dynamic role, you will put your scripting capability to good use as well as gaining experience through working with the wider Babcock security community.

Our functional and technical teams for Business Systems (SAP – ERP IT System) support the most critical parts of our business to deliver Finance, Procurement, Asset and Fleet Maintenance, HR/Payroll, IT Development, Integration, and IT Security solutions.

Working within the SAP ERP team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a broad range of business critical projects, and build your core IT and business process capabilities, as well as developing broader skills. Capability areas include IT ERP/SAP implementation experience, business process design, IT development, system integration, security/authorisations, data and system visualisation. Along the way, you’ll partner up with a lot of different teams within Babcock and learn from them as you go.

Whatever area of IT you want to specialise in, we can tailor your placements to maximise the time you spend with the relevant team.

Where you'll be based

Places on our Information Technology programme for Autumn 2024 are available in Corporate Services. We ask our graduates to be flexible as there is the potential to undertake placements in other locations during their programme.

Our IT graduates are based across the UK, with Lakeside near Portsmouth being IT Headquarters. However, you have the ability to work from any one of our Babcock hub locations. Ad hoc travel to alternative UK Babcock sites may be required throughout your programme.

Hybrid working is available, which includes working from home and on site, but is dependent on each placement requirements. We’re committed to building an inclusive culture where everyone’s free to thrive. We are happy to talk about flexible working – please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview.
